NGEZI Platinum Stars chief executive officer Amanda Nyanzero has expressed delight at joining the newly crowned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions and also articulated her goals in the new journey following her appointment about two weeks ago.
Nyanzero became the third female CEO to run the ambitious Mhondoro-Ngezi outfit since its promotion into the top flight league seven years ago when the club announced her appointment mid-November.
She replaced Yvonne Mapika Manwa who left Ngezi Platinum Stars last month to assume a similar role at the national association Zifa.
Despite having no prior experience in a professional football environment, Nyanzero says she has always been fascinated by the power of football to evoke strong emotions among supporters.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Ngezi Platinum Stars as the CEO. I have always been fascinated by how football has the power to bring people together and evoke strong emotions among supporters. I am excited to explore this dynamic and use it to create positive change within the football community. My new role gives me an opportunity to combine my passion for creating change and driving positive impact on the Ngezi community,” she told The Sports Hub in an exclusive interview.
“While I haven't worked in a football environment before, I've always been captivated by the transformative power of football in communities. Beyond the game itself, football has the ability to uplift and unite people, and I was motivated to accept this role because I believe in its potential to positively impact lives and bring people together.
“During my tenure at Ngezi Platinum Stars, I aim to foster a culture of community engagement and social impact through football. In addition to this, I am committed to bringing in more partners for collaboration to expand the club's reach and showcase our team’s talent to a wider global audience. I want to create opportunities for the local community, especially women and youth, to benefit from the club's activities and to use football as a tool for positive change, while also elevating the club's profile on the international stage.”

Nyasha Kadenge took the chief executive officer roles soon after the club joined the top flight league until last year when she left and was replaced by Mapika Manwa.
Other women playing a pivotal role at Ngezi Platinum Stars include executive members Rumbidzayi Muyambuki and Roberta Katunga, among others.
Nyanzero is proud to be following in the footsteps of women who excelled in the role that she now holds while she praised the club for giving women opportunities to hold leadership positions.

The Chitungwiza-born administrator is passionate about driving change and collaborating with others to achieve common goals and has played leadership roles from when she was you.
She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is in her final year pursuing a PhD in Governance and served as an executive accountant at the Graca Machel Trust for seven years.
