Bonne and fiancée reveal baby loss heartbreak

ENGLAND-BORN Zimbabwean striker Macauley Bonne and his fiancée Chloe Walker took to social media to speak on a series of devastating multiple baby losses this year which they say has had a massive toll on them.

Bonne, who has reportedly been left out of Zimbabwe Afcon’s provisional squad after turning down a series of call-ups during the qualifiers for the African safari and 2022 Qatar World Cup, is currently enjoying a loan spell at League One side Ipswich Town.

The 26-year-old striker, on loan from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers, is the league’s joint second top scorer with 11 goals in 21 matches two behind leader Cole Stockton of Morecambe FC.

Ipswich are currently in 12th place in the race for a ticket into the second tier English league.

However, Bonne has been able to be prolific in front of goal for Ipswich Town despite the fact that his girlfriend of nine years Walker has had to endure three miscarriages in just over a year.

Walker made the revelation on Macauley’s Instagram page last week.

“This isn’t something we’ve wanted to share for a while now but it’s taken a massive toll on us both this year. Me and Macauley have been trying to conceive for just over a year. We’ve had three miscarriages and are finally going through all the tests,” Walker wrote.

“We apologise for being distant, quiet this last year or so. This has obviously [affected] us both and is probably showing in our work life and would rather people knew the real reason.

“We don’t want sympathy hence why we’ve kept it very private up until now. We hope you understand and bear with us whilst we come to terms with everything,” she said.

Bonne and Chloe engaged in June this year having been together since 2012.

The striker has made two appearances for the Warriors and would have been a key addition to the team for Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in a three weeks’ time.

However, it appears that the current coach Norman Mapeza has given up on him.

Mapeza called the player for the World Cup assignments against South Africa and Ethiopia but his club Ipswich advised that Bonne could not play under high temperatures in Southern Africa due to health issues.

Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic had also tried in vain to lure Bonne into the Warriors squad.
