2 runaway villagers finally appear in court for murder

Two Seke villagers appeared in court facing murder charges

TWO Seke villagers that were captured on camera while assaulting a man who later succumbed to the assault injuries, on Thursday appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing murder charges.

The pair, Obvious Mutake (31) and Tashinga Alfred Mahungu (28) claimed that the now deceased (name not supplied) was involved in an intimate relationship with Mutake’s under aged daughter (15) and wife (name not supplied to protect the juvenile).

Mutake and Tashinga were asked to apply for bail at the High court. They were remanded in custody to February 10.

It is alleged that sometime in December 2022, the now deceased proposed love to the under aged girl.

The daughter informed Mutake.  On January 1, Mutake asked his daughter to lure the now deceased to their place of residence.

As he took off his clothes to try and get intimate with the daughter, he was confronted by Mutake and Mahungu.

They severely assaulted him for many hours until he was unable to walk. They carried him and dumped him at the Mhonda village cemetery.

They also stole his phone, trousers and jacket.

On the same date and at around 1100 hours the now deceased was found lying in agony with bruises all over the body, and was taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

On January 10, 2023 at around 2000 hours, the now deceased's condition deteriorated and he was taken back to Chitungwiza Central Hospital by his wife. He, however, later died.

The deceased’s stolen items were recovered when Mutange and Mahungu were arrested.

There are also witnesses who saw the accused and his accomplice assaulting the deceased.

The accused persons were also captured assaulting the now deceased in a video clip in one witness' cell phone.
