Zinyimo jets in for EP launch

Mary “Mai Zee” Zinyimo

BOTSWANA-BASED Zimbabwean gospel musician, Mary “Mai Zee” Zinyimo is back home to launch her four-track extended play (EP) Haibooo in Harare, today.

The EP features title-track Haibooo, Dhuma Dhuma, Tsiurika and Ndiye Ega Jesu.

“The wait for my fans is over now, I know they have been waiting for something new. I will be in Zimbabwe this Friday (today) to launch that EP. It is up to the fans to judge the latest offering as I believe I have done my part,” Mai Zee told NewsDay Life & Style.

“The song Haibooo is an exclamation expressing concern that after all we have received from God, we still cannot thank Him enough. So, in the song I was encouraging people to thank God. I started thanking Him for what He has done for me and my family and giving me such supportive fans.”

She said the song Dhuma Dhuma talked about an encounter with the Holy Spirit which takes away people’s troubles in life, adding that if God intervened, people’s challenges would be addressed.

Mai Zee disclosed that she would soon start promoting emerging musicians in Botswana, especially youths.

“As a musician, whose music was well received in Botswana, I felt it prudent to give back to the community by supporting up-and-coming musicians here,” she said.

She launched her professional music career in 2013 as a songwriter and recorded her first album titled Tambira Jehovha in 2017.

To date she has produced five albums namely: Ndakamuona Jesu, Mwari Huyai Muone, Usadzvara Nyama, Hamuendi Kunorara and Narini na Riini.
