Varun Beverages celebrates Yoga Day

The programme was conducted by Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Vijay Khanduja.

VARUN Beverages in co-ordination with the Indian embassy in Zimbabwe last week celebrated the health and wellness festival, the 10th International Yoga Day.

The programme was conducted by Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Vijay Khanduja.

Yoga stands for strength and harmony between mind and body.

The global celebration of Yoga Day is a culmination of lobbying by India, which saw the United Nations in December 2014 unanimously adopt a resolution proposed by the south Asian giant to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

Varun Beverages firmly believe that healthy employees and society is a must for our economic growth and overall productivity of the capital asset, the company said.

Yoga Day was celebrated as part of Varun Beverages environmental, social and governance initiative.

The employees got some tips for healthy living, it said.

“We, as Varun Beverages Ltd, are 100% committed to the vision of President Emmerson Mnangagwa of an upper-middle-income economic status by 2030. We are expanding every year since our first investment in 2018,” the company said.

“We have now focused on developing and supporting rural Zimbabwe and, therefore, our asset distribution this year will be more aggressive in supporting creation of employment for farmers and their families.”
