TWO Beitbridge transport operators have been charged with fraudulently obtaining documents to export minerals allegedly on behalf of the Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI).
Precious Ncube (49) and Methsary Muchirahondo (35) have since appeared at Beitbridge Magistrates Court facing fraud charges.
They pleaded not guilty and were remanded in custody to September 4.
The court heard that sometime this month, Ncube and Muchirahondo fraudulently obtained export documents, which included a Bill of Entry Form 21 UCR Custom, a Commercial Invoice and a Consignment Note.
The document indicated that a 25- tonne chrome ore concentrate package on behalf of the ZDI was destined to the Chinese Lianyungang Zhongda International Logistics.
They tendered the documents purporting to be in a joint venture with ZDI and Rusununguko Nkululeko Holdings.
The duo also misrepresented that they intended to export 25 tonnes of chrome ore concentrate when, in actual fact, they had a consignment of chrome ore lumpy.
Investigations revealed that the accused persons were not acting on behalf of the companies, leading to their arrest and confiscation of the documents, the truck and consignment.
