ALARM bells could be ringing for Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe after the Harare giants suffered defeat at the hands of FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

The underfire coach, who  has been in the spotlight for a string of poor results, was on Thursday jeered at by Dynamos supporters despite his team collecting maximum points against  ArenelMovers.

The team yesterday failed to build on from Thursday’s win, weighed down by a lack of precision in front of goal.

FC Platinum got one real chance throughout the match and Wilfred Muvirimi converted with a volley to ensure maximum points.

Mangombe was livid that his men failed to salvage at least a point after dominating the match.

"It's unfortunate that we lost concentration on critical situations and then we were punished on the break.

"I think on that occasion, our transition was. Overall, I'm happy with how we performed, creating chances. I like that we kept possession and cause havoc to the opponents.

"We are still crying because in every match we create a lot of chances but fail to convert. If we want to be champions, then we have to convert," he said.

His counterpart Norman Mapeza was pleased with the result. "They were knocking the ball but they didn't hurt us. They are technically a good side but they were passing the ball in their own half which was okay with us.

"In the second half I knew they were going to crack. We got a good goal. We defended well, so the long ball was good for us because it's anyone's game. We are happy to finally beat Dynamos in the league after some time."

The match started at a high tempo, with Dynamos enjoying the lion's share of possession. Both teams, however, could not create clear cut chances in the first-half, although the Harare giants had the most advances into the box.

The two goalkeepers, David Bizabani and Martin Mapisa for FC Platinum and Dynamos respectively,  were not tested in the first-half, with much of the action happening in the midfield. FC Platinum preferred to knock the ball around in their box, hoping to catch Dynamos on the counter, but the latter were solid.

Dynamos returned from the break with so much impetus, with Emmanuel Paga hitting the side nets with a powerful shot from outside the box.

However, FC Platinum broke the deadlock two minutes after the hour mark courtesy of Wilfred Muvirimi who beat Mapisa from close range after a counterattack.

Five minutes later,  Emmanuel Ziocha missed what could have been DeMbare's first chance, after a neat build-up. But his lofted effort missed the target, with goalie Bizabani caught off-guard.
