THE Zimbabwe Chess Federation (ZCF) is set to host the annual Easter Open tournament with over 300 chess players expected to fight for honours in the capital later this month.

The tournament starts on Good Friday (March 29) before the curtain comes down on Easter Monday (April 1) in a competition that will see International Masters competing.
National team chess players Dion Moyo and Spencer Masango, who represented the country at the 40th Olympiad Istanbul 2012 Open tournament in Turkey, have equal chances of dominating at the tournament.
Moyo recently outweighed favourite and teammate Masango to clinch the ZCF Mutare Grand Prix 1st leg tournament held in the city last month.
Robert Gwaze, who is now plying his career as a coach in South Africa, is expected to make a dramatic comeback ahead of the tournament. Some of the local players who are set to take part in the championships are Elisha Thabo and Anyway Zhuwawu.
