Posters of the concert have been splashed all over Harare and what is left is for the artiste to jet in for the highly-publicised concert, alongside his protégé Damian Godlin (D-Major), whom he is grooming under his stable.

In a 38-seconds video clip, Martin said he was excited to come and perform in Zimbabwe.

“Now check it out. It is Christopher Martin and it is all about Zimbabwe, Harare,” he said. “April 29 comes alive with Christopher Martin and my live band, Jam Dance, will be in Harare and it’s all about Together As One Concert at the Glamis Arena Showgrounds. Make a date and don’t be late.”

Speaking to The Standard Style, one of the concert organisers Barbra Chikosi — popularly known as Mama Red Rose — said all was set for the gig, urging fans to come in their numbers to welcome the musician on Wednesday at the airport.

“We are calling for all Chris Martin fans to come in their numbers and welcome their favourite musician at Harare International Airport as he touches down around 5pm with his entire band,” Chikosi said. “We have organised transport to carry fans to the airport.

“From the airport, Chris Martin will go for radio interviews and an official press conference will be held the following day at Rainbow Towers. Lucky fans will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with Chris Martin before the show at a special dinner.”

Chikosi said they had slashed the prices for the ordinary advance tickets from $15 to $10.

“We have decided to give a special offer to Chris Martin’s fans, who will purchase the Together As One Live Concert ordinary tickets in advance at $10 instead of $15 that will be paid at the gate,” she said.

“Although we want to accommodate everyone provided they buy their tickets in advance, it must be clear to fans that all prices of tickets to be bought on the day of the gig have not been reduced, they remain at $15 ordinary and $20 VIP at the gate.”

She said fans should buy tickets at Red Rose Hair Salons, Coloursell Furniture branches, Sopranos Restaurant in Avondale and Hard Sounds at Gulf Complex, as well as at Long Cheng Plaza Shop 143.

There will be entertainment galore that will see several local sounds, among them Silverstone, Stone Love, Fyah Links, Legendary, Mighty Ducks, Stan Splash, Bodyslam, Digital One and Majestic 3 clashing before the main show.

About eight local female emcees have also been accorded the opportunity to showcase their talent, as they will also battle for honours at the concert.

The emcees, led by Empress Christine, include Iron Lady, Spooky, DJ Teezy, DJ Spin, Lyrical Base, Lady Vicious and Gully Side, made the grade at a recent talent search held at The Basement Nite Club in Harare.

Chikosi said the idea to include female emcees was to afford them a chance to showcase their talents, as ladies were mainly sidelined at high profile concerts.

At the potentially explosive gig, the Cheaters Prayer hit-maker will be supported by high-riding Jah Prayzah as well as dancehall stars Winky D and Lipsy.
