Two Harare police officers who were caught on camera receiving a bribe from a suspect are back in court tomorrow for bail ruling.
The duo, Rudo Chirengendure and Nyasha Mupandira, were denied bail when they appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa last week.
They are represented by Tinashe Mbala and Liberty Gono.
The two cops are facing charges of criminal abuse of duty as public officers.
Prosecutors opposed bail stating that they have not recorded statements from three key witnesses.
The duo’s lawyers had argued that the alleged video does not clearly show if the two cops were given money or stones.
According to prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti, the incident occurred on April 18 at Parkade rank at the intersection of Nelson Mandela Avenue and Rezende Street.
They had been deployed to patrol the area and managed to apprehend illegal money changers, touts, and vendors.
