Sheasham appoint ex-Gweru United star as chief executive

Sport

New Castle Lager Premier Soccer League boys Sheasham have appointed former Gweru United star Wonder Chaka as the club’s chief executive officer (CEO).

The Construction Boys have been quietly doing their business, but it is the appointment of Chaka that has got the Gweru-based side buzzing ahead of their maiden season.

Although no confirmation was obtained from the club, sources close to NewsDay Sport confirmed that Chaka was already spearheading the team’s preparations for the new season.

They have been playing cards close to their chest in terms transfers.

They have been linked with Caps United’s Curtworth Masango, whose contract with the Harare giants is said to be expiring at the end of the month.

Coach John Nyikadzino also retained the bulk of the squad that helped the club gain promotion into the elite league.

As it stands, the club is renovating Bata Stadium, which they intend to use as their home ground.

The last team to emerge from the Central Region, WhaWha, turned out to be the league’s punching bag, and Sheasham want to make an impact in their debut season.
