FC Platinum replenish

The Norman Mapeza-coached side silently conducted their transfer business, bringing in eight new faces, some of who have been the most consistent players in the Premier Soccer League.

AFTER parting ways with eight players, FC Platinum have unveiled the replacements, with Highlanders right back Mbongeni Ndlovu head-lining the list of new recruits.

The Norman Mapeza-coached side silently conducted their transfer business, bringing in eight new faces, some of who have been the most consistent players in the Premier Soccer League.

The defender, Ndlovu joins the four-time PSL champions alongside midfielder Brighton Manhire who was also in Bosso's books.

Pure Platinum play also lured Herentals star midfielder Davison Marowa. Marowa was one of the top performers at Herentals, and was particularly a thorn in the flesh when The Students took on FC Platinum last term.

To reinforce their midfield, they also roped in the workaholic, Shepherd Mhlanga from Chicken Inn.

They replaced goalie Petros Mhari with David Bizabani who spent last season in Green Fuels' books. Bizabani will compete for the number one jersey with the duo of Wallace Magalane and Francis Tizayi.

They also added midfielder Bothwell Nzori to their ranks. He was lured from Zifa Northern Region outfit Black Mambas.

Mapeza also added the unheralded duo of Tapiwa Revesai and Anesu Chirinda who were promoted from their developmental side competing in the Zifa Central Region Soccer League.

Unveiling the players, club Chairperson Dumisani Sisale reiterated that their goal is to reclaim glory in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. The platinum miners started their pre-season training programme on Wednesday.

Those who have been offloaded were former Soccer Star Walter Musona, Petros Mhari, Innocent Mucheneka, Perfect Chikwende, Raphael Muduviwa, Nomore Chinyerere, Gift Mbweti and Gift Bello. Meanwhile Bello, who hung up his boots, is rumoured to take a place in Norman Mapeza's technical team.

Plausibly, the four-time champions retained the backbone of their squad after pinning down the likes of Brian Banda, Juan Mutudza, Jarrison Selemani and Rainsome Pavari.

Gangly defender Lawrence Mhlanga, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, Panashe Mutimbanyoka, Kelvin Mangiza and Hagiazo Magaya have also stayed put.

Having won the title a record four times on the trot, their run was cut by Ngezi Platinum Stars who took the honours last season.

FC Platinum are determined to wrestle the main prize in the 2024 season expected to start in March.
