FC PLATINUM have beaten Ngezi Platinum Stars to the services of Highlanders star midfielder Devine Mhindirira following the expiry of his contract with the Bulawayo giants.
Mhindirira became a free agent after his contract expired on June 30, triggering a fiery bidding war between the platinum cousins.
A source told NewsDay Sport yesterday that the midfielder had agreed to a one-year contract with the four-time Premier Soccer League winners.
He is set to be unveiled tomorrow.
“It is done and dusted,” the source said.
“All is set for his unveiling this Friday. He has signed all the documents and is already an FC Platinum player.”
The exciting midfielder has been a vital cog for the Kelvin Kaindu-coached Bosso and his departure could open a huge void that might be difficult to plug for Bosso.
He has arguably been Highlanders’ most outstanding player this season, but the club, somehow, failed to tie him down.

Reports suggest that Highlanders offered Mhindirira the same contract he had which riled the player’s camp.
Moreso, club chief executive officer Sihlangu Dlodlo admitted that Highlanders owed Mhindirira US$6 000 in signing-on fees from the previous contract.
They reportedly offered to make a part-payment of US$4 000. In a last-ditch bid, Bosso tabled a new contract for the 2022 Soccer star of the Year finalist. However, it was too little, too late.
