Ngezi Platinum Stars have snapped up Tinotenda Meke and Malvern Hativagone, two of the best players in the local league at the moment, in a bid to bolster their chances of making a good impression in their maiden appearance in the Caf Champions League.
The Mhondoro based side announced on Monday that they had strengthened their squad with four new players ahead of their African Safari campaign which gets underway next month.
In addition to Meke and Hativagoni, who are joining from GreenFuel and Bulawayo Chiefs, respectively, the Takesure Chiragwi coached side also signed Tanaka Munemo, a Real Betis Academy graduate and Blessed Mushonganyika of Legends Academy.
However, it is the acquisition of Meke and Hativagoni that will probably excite the Ngezi Platinum Stars supporters the most.
Meke, in particular, the club might have found themselves a real gem.
The former Cranborne Bullets star who joined GreenFuel at the start of the season, has had a brilliant season so far, and was one of the Warriors' standout performers at this year's Cosafa Cup in South Africa early this month.
Following his lively showing at the regional tournament in Port Elizabeth, the 18-year-old attracted a lot of interest from local clubs, with reports that Simba Bhora, Fc Platinum and Manica Diamonds were all vying for his signature.
It appears, however, that the lure of Caf Champions League football was too much to ignore for the Mufakose born player.

Hativagoni has also done well for himself this season, and his league perfomances were rewarded with a Warriors call-up for the Cosafa tournament where he played all the matches as Zimbabwe narrowly missed qualification to the quarterfinals.
Ngezi Platinum Stars will play AS Maniema of Democratic Republic of Congo in the Caf Champions League preliminary stage.
The local league champions will host the first leg at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia during the weekend of 16-18 August, before traveling to DRC for the reverse fixture the following week.
Madamburo, as Ngezi is affectionately known, will play their home matches in foreign land because Zimbabwe does not have a CAF certified stadium to host international matches.
The club will be making their second appearance in the African Safari having represented the country in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2017.
