The usually serene picturesque Nhamoyebonde Village in Guruve last week reverberated into life after thousands of apostolic sect members thronged the area for their annual gathering.
The pilgrims, who are members of the Johane Masowe Echishanu-Jerusarema Bhesidha apostolic sect converged at their headquarters for the annual 10-day event popularly known as Jorodhani nePasika (Baptism and Passover).
The sect leader Echoes Chiore affectionately known as Madzibaba Echoes said this year's edition of the gathering was attended by a record number of sect members.
"We were not expecting such a gathering but God is doing wonders, people are accepting salvation. The 10-day event went on well, a lot were baptised and we had a successful Passover feast. We also took the opportunity to pray for our country and their leaders, that is praying for national economic prosperity and peace," he said.
The activities comprise an eight-day fasting period before concluding with baptism and the Passover feast.
Johane Masowe Echishanu-Jerusarema Bhesidha apostolic sect has several branches in and outside the country.
Its headquarters are in Guruve, under Chief Chipuriro where the late founding leader Madzibaba Dhasiwesi is buried.
