Soul Jah Love movie on the cards

The late Soul Jah Love

Soul Jah Love’s music moments will be captured superbly in a yet-to-be named full strength feature, a biopic about the life and times of one of Zimdancehall’s most powerful voices.

Born Soul Muzavazi Musaka in 1989, Soul Jah Love died on February 16, 2021 and was interred at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre.

Three years after his death, a wonderful tribute that explores the highs and lows of the late Zimdancehall crooner’s life will be premiered, thanks to local entertainment hub, Jive Zimbabwe which is facilitating a number of events, including a memorial concert next Saturday.

“Our partnership with the Soul Jah Love Estate would witness the installation and unveiling of Soul Jah Love's tombstone at the Heroes’ Acre on the day he was promoted to glory, Friday February 16, 2024, exactly three years on,” said Jive Zimbabwe director Benjy Nyandoro.

“The unveiling would be followed by an event and premiere of the Soul Jah Love documentary on the same day in Harare.

“We look forward to concluding scripting the movie by mid-year and reach out for partnerships.

“The documentary and movie narrates the life story of Soul Jah Love, which through his music has always resonated with the ghetto youths and Zimbabweans in general.

“We believe there are many lessons and inspirations to draw from Soul Jah Love and we hope that they would impact positively particularly the youths.”

Nyandoro said they have lined up a number of activities as part of the build up to the third anniversary of the death of the Kana Ndafa hit maker.

“Among the activities is the memorial concert that will be held next Saturday on December 9 at Padziva Camp and Caravan in Harare,” he said.

“We would like to extend our appreciation to our all-weather partner Pacific Cigarette Company for the support towards the Soul Jah Love Memorial Concert and documentary.”

Several artistes have confirmed to be part of the celebrations and these include Silent Killer, Chipoko ChaSauro, Jah Child, Boss Pumacol, Supa Yut, Dadza D, Kadjah, Ricky Fire, Mona Lisa, Sunshine Family, DKT, Mighty Ducks, Fyah Lynxx as well as Stormyard.

According to Nyandoro, the event will start from 12pm in the afternoon till late and shall be graced by the godfathers and bosses of the Zimdancehall fraternity including Gaza Commander, Boss Changara, Boss Gwasaz, Boss Clem, Boss Odza and King Bollo, among others.
