Local TV producer turns rapper, releases new single

The  executive producer behind Destiny TV's popular shows, "The Village" and "Twice A Mother," has been diligently cultivating a music career on the side. Now, ready to take center stage, Dembedza is officially launching his musical journey.

Local television producer, Tatenda Dembedza, has embarked on a new chapter, embracing his passion for rap music under the stage name T.G Rhymz.

The  executive producer behind Destiny TV's popular shows, "The Village" and "Twice A Mother," has been diligently cultivating a music career on the side. Now, ready to take center stage, Dembedza is officially launching his musical journey.

With two tracks already completed, T.G Rhymz is currently in the studio working on his third single, "Big Brains," scheduled for release later this month.

"I'm currently working on a song called 'Big Brains' with South African-based music producer Degmoney. The song generally explores my passion for music, the struggles people face to make ends meet, and various other themes."

The upcoming hip-hop artiste made his music scene debut in March with the single "Kisses to Curses," a heartbreak anthem featuring fellow newcomer Tasha. In May, he released "Checkmate," inspired by the challenges faced by ghetto youth.

"Checkmate reflects the struggles of young people in the ghetto, including poverty and unemployment. It's like a chess game where there's no escape when you're checkmated," said T.G Rhymz.

With a long-standing exposure to rap music, T.G Rhymz found inspiration to write and perform his own songs. "I'm inspired by Western, South African, and Zimbabwean hip hop. I listen to all genres but found hip hop to be the best outlet for my expression. Plus, the Zimbabwean hip hop scene is thriving," he said.

His producer, Degmoney, expressed enthusiasm for working with such a passionate rapper. "I've collaborated with T.G. Rhymz on three tracks: mixing and mastering 'Kisses to Curses,' producing 'Checkmate,' and the upcoming 'Big Brains.' It's been a great experience. Every producer enjoys working with a passionate and creative artiste," Degmoney said.
