Ndlovu up for Forty Under 40 Africa awards

The aim of the Forty Under 40 Africa awards is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross section of the continent’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age 40.

Founder and creative strategist of Afrodoid Media, a rising advertising company, Langa Ndlovu has been included in the Forty Under 40 Africa awards.

She is in the Media category for exploring different advertising technology solutions.

The aim of the Forty Under 40 Africa awards is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross section of the continent’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age 40.

These are identified from a wide range of industries and are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service.

Other Zimbabweans nominated in the awards are Audrey Simbiso Chakanyuka, Amanda Ngcono, Tariro Chirehwa, Paul Makaya, Shakemore Timborwa and Rutendo Chidavaenzi.

“I feel humbled to have been given this opportunity and grateful to all who believe in the work we do at AfroDroid Media, especially our corporate partners and suppliers,” Ndlovu told Standard Style.

“We are motivated to keep coming up with solutions for media and advertising that are effective, but also do not discriminate against SME businesses as their numbers are fast growing and they are imperative for economic growth, especially in light of the new normal in business.”

Ndlovu said her work at Afrodoid led to her being nominated for the prestigious award.

“I was nominated because of the work that I do, thus disruptive advertising in retail advertising that enable all Zimbabweans businesses to get maximum visibility, especially as we are all recovering from the effects of Covid-19,” she said.

Afrodoid Media came up with new innovative ways of advertising such as the Hologram.

Hologram is a light diffraction that creates a virtual 3D image of an object. Hologram marketing, therefore, uses these 3D images to create compelling marketing assets.

Holographic displays are being used in digital signage, billboards, point-of-sales terminals, kiosks, at places and in events.

Afrodoid Media was established in 2018 and deals with content development and digital marketing in addition to being an advertising agency.

The company works with other organisations at business expos like the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Harare Agricultural Show and provincial shows across the country.

Ndlovu is not new to the media industry — she is a former radio personality at Star FM and a musician.
