The 62-year-old Australian, who coached the Bangladesh cricket side between 2003 and 2007, will take charge of the Barisal Bulls for the fourth edition of BPL, which takes place from November 4.

Barisal Bulls owner Abdul Awal Chowdhury said: “Dav Whatmore is going to be our head coach.” South African Graham Ford was the coach of Barisal Bulls in the last season of BPL.

Whatmore was sacked as Zimbabwe cricket team coach in May following the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) board’s review of the team’s performance at the World T20 in March.

The former Australia batsman Whatmore, who previously coached Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan, took over as Zimbabwe’s head coach in December 2014, after Steve Mangongo’s sacking following a fractious five-month term.
