Mutarisi, who staved off competition from other equally enterprising businesspeople, reckons life is too short to be spent in mediocrity and he advises Zimbabweans from all walks of life to pursue their dreams and take the daily steps to destiny.

“Receiving the 2016 Megafest Businessman of the Year award is indeed a great honour for me and I owe it to my team at Nash Paints and those stakeholders and clients that continue supporting the work we do through buying from us or investing in our brand in one way or the other,” he said.

“I believe it does not matter what you are born with, it is what you do with what you have that makes the difference and I want to encourage Zimbabweans from all walks of life to continue chasing their dreams. Challenges abound but where there is a will, a way is guaranteed.”

The humble businessman, who started off with one small branch at Chikwanha in Chitungwiza in 2006 has not looked back since he joined the fray. His Nash Paints brand has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and now boasts of 19 branches in almost all major cities and towns in the country.

“We have been on a steady rise since we joined the paint industry and our work ethic and business model has been well-received by Zimbabweans from all walks of life. We have a winner mentality and in all our operations we strive on pleasing the client, which explains the many campaigns and promotions we have introduced, among them the Paint Your House on Credit – Kochekera campaign with brand ambassador Alick Macheso, among many other tailor-made services,” Mutarisi said.

On competition and operating in a relatively challenging economic environment, the Nash Paints boss said one’s work ethic and drive wins the day for them regardless of the operating environment.

“The world has got space for every one of us regardless of pursuit. Yes, competition is there but I personally do not believe in competition and have imparted the same thinking in my team. You simply have to stay in your lane, continue improving your brand and bear in mind that the only barrier between yourself and your goal is you. Once you psyche yourself the right way, you will achieve,” he said.

The Megafest 2016 Businessman of the Year award comes on the back of various other Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Superbrand, Zimbabwe Institute of Management and Marketers Association accolades won by Nash Paints.

These include the ZNCC award, the Top Brand of the Year award, Super Brand award, Top Business Leader of the Year award, Top Businessman of the Year award, Top Leadership Excellence award, SME Leadership Excellence award, Zimbabwe Institute of Management award, Exclusive Marketing Chairman’s award, Best Quality individual of the Year and the Best Supplier Hardware award. The paint giant continues reinventing itself in tune with obtaining trends in their line of business.

“It has been a great year for us and I want to salute my team for the unit of purpose and unparalleled commitment. We have been receiving numerous awards in recent years, which to us speak volumes about our level of investment and excellence in business conduct,” he said.

The automotive and decorative paint manufacturer and distributor is also in the final stages of constructing a $3 million state-of-the-art paint manufacturing plant in the Graniteside industrial area as they seek to ramp up their growth game in the man-eat-man Zimbabwean economy.

“In tune with our business trajectory, we will soon be opening the doors to our new paint production plant to members of the public in Graniteside and I believe this will allow us to serve our publics better. New marketing campaigns and promotions are in the pipeline and those who love quality paint products and services must watch our space. It is game on come 2017 and again, we are closing 2016 in style. You just have to visit any of our branches countrywide and you will experience the best shopping experience at affordable and flexible rates,” Mutarisi said.
