Firebrand gospel musician and former Zimpraise ensemble member Wencilus Makungisa, better known in music circles as Mpostori Wency, married his long-time sweetheart Nyaradzo Chirinda at a private function held in Harare last week.
The lanky musician, who is based in Dallas, United States, said he was delighted about the development and was grateful to God for the opportunity to marry his friend and lover.
“Nyaradzo is a special woman to me and I am really elated about this development. It feels good to marry and I am honoured to marry my friend. It was my dream to marry someone I can freely converse with. She is someone I enjoy spending the whole day with without getting bored,” he said.
Makungisa, who has a full-time job in the US besides his music commitments, said he was positive about the future and was hoping that the marriage will bring blessings with it and open new avenues for him.
“I have a full-time job here, but I am even more positive about the future and I believe the marriage will come with its blessings. I know we are safe and we are wealthy as long we continue to put our trust in the Lord,” he said.
The lobola ceremony was also witnessed by Sharon Manyonganise Cherayi, who is the wife of Mposotori Wency’s friend Ellard Cherayi, the founder of new gospel music ensemble New Dawn. Ellard and Sharon Cherayi are also former Zimpraise members.
Mpostori Wency has remained consistent even after his relocation to the US and last year one of his singles was topping charts on a local radio station’s gospel music charts.

“Gospel music is my ministry and calling and I will continue releasing good music and performing. I have a couple of hot productions and I also did a collaboration with an upcoming female gospel musician based in Bulawayo who is a member of the Harvest Church. I also have another single titled Waruza in the making now,” he said.
Commenting on the current difficult times as a result of the Covid-19-induced lockdown, Mpostori Wency called on fellow musicians and Zimbabweans at large to remain resilient because difficult times call for tenacity.
“I know the whole world is in a difficult situation, but I call on fellow musicians and Zimbabweans at large to remain resilient. Difficult times call for strength of character, let us remain committed to our work and indeed the Creator and we will emerge victors,” he said.
Mpostori Wency has had a fruitful gospel music career and was at one time recognised by the Zimbabwe Young Achievers Awards for his refreshing and unique gospel music.
