The 16 finalists were selected from 30 models that went through a tough semi-finals contest last month at the same venue.

The pageant makes a return after a 13-year sabbatical, coming back with more activities under the Strides Modelling banner.

The grand finale has drawn models from Bulawayo, Harare, Gweru, Gwanda and Victoria Falls.

“The semi-finals were a success. We were overwhelmed by the attendance and the set-up and promise more than what we pulled last month,” said pageant organiser and founder of Strides Modelling Agency Sipho Mazibuko.

“We promise to give fans a night they will never forget. Since this pageant will be the biggest so far this year, we promise nothing but world-class presentations.”

The pageant took a break as Mazibuko was battling bipolar.

“Being back on top of the game, a game I love doing, makes me more than happy and inspires me to do more for the industry,” she said.

“It’s like I am making up for the time I was away. I learnt a lot during my days away and I am ready to change the game.”

Mazibuko said the corporates were willing to chip in for the re-branded Miss Summer Strides.

“We have a number of partners onboard and waiting to join us so that we make the event bigger and better from the previous editions,” she said.

“We are also partnering with South African modelling agencies so that we have easy access to other regional pageants for our models who would have excelled in local pageants.”
