Zimbabwe's top schools vie for glory in Old Mutual High School Quiz

During the provincial competitions, students captivated audiences with their rapid responses and in-depth knowledge.

The highly anticipated 2023 edition of the Old Mutual National High School Quiz is just around the corner, set to take place on the 20th of October 2023. This year's competition promises to be even more exciting and engaging than ever before as students from across Zimbabwe showcase their brilliance and compete for the coveted title.

In September 2023, provincial competitions were held throughout the 10 provinces of Zimbabwe, attracting an impressive participation of 220 schools. This marked a significant increase from last year, demonstrating the growing popularity and importance of the quiz in fostering intellectual growth and knowledge sharing among the youth.

During the provincial competitions, students captivated audiences with their rapid responses and in-depth knowledge. The quiz comprised of four challenging heats, covering various subjects including the history and geography of Africa, current affairs, as well as science, architecture, and technology. The teams displayed not only their ability to recall facts but also their critical thinking skills and teamwork.

After intense battles of wits, the following schools emerged as the finalists and will be representing their provinces in the national competition.

- Harare: Zengeza High 1

- Bulawayo: Northlea High

- Midlands: Midlands Christian College

- Mashonaland West: Sandringham High

- Masvingo: Pamushana High

- Manicaland: Marist Brothers Nyanga High

- Mashonaland East: Goromonzi High

- Matebeleland South: St Mary’s High

- Matabeleland North: Lulu High

- Mashonaland Central: Mazowe Boys High

  The stage is set for an exhilarating clash of minds as these brilliant participants vie for the ultimate prize.
