Boy (4) drowns in Fort Rixon

Moyo urged parents to accompany their children to and from school to avoid such incidences.

A BOY (4) from Bataniyi village, Lambamai area in Fort Rixon died last week from drowning in Tempe River, while swimming with four other children aged six and seven.

This was revealed yesterday by Matabeleland South province acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandolwenkosi Moyo.

“On March 15, four children aged four to seven years were walking back home from school and they went to swim in Tempe River, Fort Rixon.  The four-year-old boy drowned in the process. The other children then informed the mother of the child,” Moyo said.

He said the body of the deceased was retrieved and a police report was made. The corpse was then taken to hospital.

Moyo urged parents to accompany their children to and from school to avoid such incidences.
