The fight over Parliament posts has escalated within factions of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) which traded barbs while attacking speaker Jacob Mudenda of “lying”.
A CCC faction led by Jameson Timba yesterday lashed out at Mudenda over alleged falsehoods against the party’s affairs which led to the rescission of appointments made by him.
Timba also called another faction leader Welshman Ncube of being a Zanu PF muppet.
This attacks come as the spokesperson for the Ncube-linked faction Jacob Mafume also castigated self-proclaimed CCC interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu of appointing legislators to various committees with consulting the party leadership.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with CCC lawmakers in Harare yesterday, Timba called the appointments “unlawful” and a “nullity”.
“The Zimbabwean Parliament is now a circus and the chief muppet in this circus is Sengezo Tshabangu who is being cheered and aided by the so-called MDC 2019 structure led by Welshman Ncube and others and the muppet master is Zanu PF.
“The events of the past week have shown every right thinking Zimbabwean, the region and the international community that Zimbabwe is not yet ready to be a democratic nation.
“Speaker of the Parliament Jacob Mudenda delivered a judgment without hearing from anyone. He alleged that I had made appointments in Parliament irregularly when I did not do such a thing.”

Timba blamed Tshabangu for the problems in the opposition after reversing his appointments
Mudenda this week reversed the appointment of CCC legislators from a faction of the opposition movement led by Timba as portfolio committee chairpersons.
This led to the appointment of new MPs on Thursday who are aligned to Tshabangu's faction.
Meanwhile, Mafume also expressed outrage yesterday over the appointments saying they were done without the involvement of the Ncube-led CCC.
“After deliberations, the standing committee noted that, to the extent that those engagements with the Speaker of Parliament have been ongoing, these ought to continue with a view to rectify the anomaly and to ensure that the new appointments are legitimate.
“The standing committee agreed on the imperative for the national executive and the national council of the party be convened to take stock of progress made in revitalising and repositioning the party towards a genuine democratic struggle,” Mafume said in a statement yesterday.
