Bus conductor up for impersonating ZACC official

A bus conductor appeared before Harare magistrate Lynne Chizhou on Tuesday charged with impersonating a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officer.

A bus conductor appeared before Harare magistrate Lynne Chizhou on Tuesday charged with impersonating a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officer.

Devotion Mamutse pleaded guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody to today.

The complainant is the State represented by Humphrey Magorimbo, a ZACC general manager - Human Resources.

State prosecutor Tinotenda Masimba alleged that on May 17, 2024, Mamutse sent some whatsApp messages to a Harare Officer in Charge Inspector Wonder Dzviti pretending to be a ZACC member.

In his WhatsApp messages, Mamutse accused Dzviti and his officers of being corrupt before threatening to ambush them.

The court heard that Dzviti became suspicious and advised his superiors.

Investigations established that Mamutse was not a ZACC official but a conductor, leading to his arrest.
