Briefs: Man up for impersonating CIO

Local
Maphosa remanded him out of custody to October 18 on US$50 bail.

A 32 year-old man from Bulawayo appeared in court facing charges of masquerading as a Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) member.

Prince Abraham Dzimati from Nkulumane pleaded not guilty to the charge of impersonating  a CIO when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa on Wednesday.

Maphosa remanded him out of custody to October 18 on US$50 bail. The complainant in the matter is the state represented by Misheck Gwenhure, who is employed as a senior clerk of court at the Bulawayo magistrates court. Prosecutors said between August and September 2 at 9am, Dzimati went to the court to make a follow up on a case of maintenance.

He introduced himself as a President’s office in a bid to obtain favours. Gwenhure checked with the CIO if they knew Dzimati and they disowned him.

An ambush was set up and Dzimati was arrested on September 2 when he appeared at the magistrates court demanding favours.
