A Harare woman last week alleged that a space baron, who is also her boyfriend, raped her before giving her a vending stall at Copacabana mall.
Fungai Makwavarara told Harare magistrate Sharon Mashavira that Charles Marufu was her business partner and boyfriend. Marufu had dragged her to court seeking a protection order. She denied charges of abusing her boyfriend before laying rape charges against him.
“He owns several tables in the Copacabana mall and at Mupedzanhamo, so when he approached me to get into business with him I agreed,” she submitted.
“He later raped me twice and gave me two tables to operate from...”
Makwavarira told the court that she did not report the sexual abuse because she had been given the tables.
Marufu denied the allegations and stated that he only wanted a peace order. Mashavira postponed ruling on the matter to tomorrow.
