A Harare man has been charged with robbery and raping a sex worker he met at a local bar.
Andrew Munemo (41) appeared at the Harare magistrates court on Friday facing two counts of robbery and rape.
Prosecutors said on December 15 at around 2200 hours, Munemo met the complainant who is a sex worker at Liz Bar inthe city.
Prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu told the court that Munemo approached the complainant asking for her services and she agreed.
Munemo allegedly opted to go with the complainant to his place for the night.
Instead of taking the complainant to his place, Munemo boarded a kombi with her and led her to a secluded place at Retreat Farm in Waterfalls.
Munemo grabbed the complainant's neck from behind, threatened to stab her before ordering her to surrender her belongings and undress.
In fear, the complainant surrendered her Huawei cellphone, handbag and cash amounting to US$59.
