A TWENTY-NINE old Mabvuku man appeared at the Harare magistrates court on Friday facing two counts of impersonating a police officer. The suspect Vumani Ndlovu was remanded out of custody to March 5 when he appeared before magistrate Lisa Mutendereki.

Prosecutor Alice Miriro alleged that sometime in January this year at Kuwadzana 2 shops, Ndlovu introduced himself as a police officer to the complainant Daniel Ndomera at his workplace.

Ndlovu told the complainant that he was under arrest for practicing without a medical license.

According to court papers, Ndlovu told Ndomere to accompany him to the police station in order to pay a fine.

Ndomere told Ndlovu that he had no money, but he could only give him US$2 as a bribe which the accused later accepted.

On a different count Ndlovu introduced himself as the new police general to the complainant Fadzai Masiyiwa .

Ndlovu approached the complainant stating that she was under arrest for allegedly practicing without a medical license.

Miriro alleged that Ndlovu demanded bribe money for the complainant to continue practicing without proper authorisation.

It is alleged that Ndlovu was given US $5 and immediately went away.—
