
Armed robbery suspects who allegedly stole lobola money from controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws have been remanded in custody to April 10.
Garikai Shangwa (43) Gerald Dinhidza 44 Arnold Tafirei (38) Tawanda Mushayate (45) Mike Mihaka (45) magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa were advised to approach the High Court for bail application.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that on March 18 the accused along with their accomplices who are still at large, broke into Chivayo in-laws’ Alpha and Omega Farm in Marondera and made away with US$74 000.
The court heard that the robbers tied the guards with cable ties, broke the screen and kitchen door of the main house before storming into Gerald Muteke’s bedroom.
Fearing for his life, Muteke surrendered US$18,000 in cash, a loaded Sarsilmaz pistol, and two Samsung smartphones (S23 and S24).
