A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her brother after he allegedly assaulted and insulted her for bringing a boyfriend into their parents’ home.
Jacqueline Fofo told magistrate Meenal Narotam that her brother attacked her after finding her with a man in the house.
“(Steward Zhuwaki) assaulted me and I sustained some injuries. I could not fight him back because he is powerful,” Fofo said.
“I was beaten in front of my boyfriend and I was so embarrassed.”
She also claimed that Zhuwaki threatened to evict her and frequently hurls verbal abuse at her.
“Zhuwaki calls me a prostitute and a useless woman,” she said.
“He said many obscene words in front of my boyfriend.”
Fofo told the court that her brother tries to control her romantic life and often interferes in her personal affairs.

Zhuwaki did not dispute the allegations, saying he wanted to discipline his sister.
After hearing both sides, Narotam granted a protection order in Fofo’s favour.
