A National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) supervisor appeared in court last week facing charges of stealing property worth US$25 000 from his employer.
William Jamu (40) and his co-accused NRZ foreman, Ronald Martin (37), were represented by Tafadzwa Muvhami when they appeared in court.
Prosecutors said on February 18 this year at the NRZ Lochinvar Motive Power Depot in Harare, the two connived to steal some equipment from the workshop.
Jamu allegedly instructed one of the general workers, Vushe Chimhau, to load a Traction Motor into a T35 motor vehicle belonging to NRZ intending to take it to Harare Depot.
Jamu left his workplace with the Traction motor before teaming up with Martin with an intention to sell the traction motor.
On the same day, the depot manager inquired whether the movement of the traction motor had been authorised.
Investigations established that there was no authorisation, and a police report was made leading to their arrest.
Harare magistrate Winfilda Tiyatara, however, removed the duo from remand for lack of evidence.
