Festive season is a time for joy. A time for giving and sharing. Everyone is thinking about someone and wants to bring a smile to their face. During this time everybody wants to be a part of a gathering and no one wants to be alone but to spend time with family and friends.
John 3:16 (KJV)
- For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We have entered into a time of giving mode. The bible says for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. In that context we learn that to give is to love. As we are sharing and spending time with others we are acting in the context of love. This holiday make it a point that you invite someone or visit someone. Bring something and share even the little that you have. The Bible says there is greater joy in giving than receiving. So let everyone use this opportunity to do something good. Even the smallest gesture can be a huge miracle someone has been waiting for.
John 13:33-35 (AMP)
- [Dear] little children, I am to be with you only a little longer. You will look for me and, as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: you are not able to come where I am going.
- I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.
- By this shall all [men] know that you are my disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]?
Jesus teaches us a new law that we must love others as we love ourselves. This new law sums up all the other 10 commandments. Proving that love is the most important and powerful tool that can conquer a lot of huddles and it is the basis of our existence as human beings. We can never function as a single entity and if we love one another a lot of hating and hurting each other will become less and less. Jesus compared loving others to loving oneself as a person will never intentionally cause pain to thy self. So in the same manner we are to treat others the way we would want to be treated.
Luke 22:18-20 (AMP)
- For I say to you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine at all until the kingdom of God comes.
- Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
- And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the New Testament or covenant [ratified] in my blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.
Christmas time allows us reflect on the past months and gives us a chance to redeem ourselves and show some kindness to others. The festive seasons gives us a chance to start afresh as it gives us hope and new beginnings. Christmas is a time where we cook lots of food and share with everyone. It becomes a time to break bread that is eating the body of Christ and drinking the blood of Jesus. Even Jesus Himself shared a meal with His disciples ,the last supper .The habit of sharing meals together as family and friends allows people to bond together and share experiences together. Eating together allows people to create memories. On the last super Jesus advised us to eat meals together in remembrance of His love.

John 13:1-3 (AMP)
- [NOW] BEFORE the Passover Feast began, Jesus knew (was fully aware) that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to the Father. And as He had loved those who were His own in the world, He loved them to the last and to the highest degree.
- So [it was] during supper, Satan having already put the thought of betraying Jesus in the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son,
- [That] Jesus, knowing (fully aware) that the Father had put everything into His hands, and that He had come from God and was [now] returning to God,
Lastly let us be careful when we are gathering and dinning together and be prayerful least the devil might strike whilst we are not watchful. Pray that the devil must not enter and use you to be the one who causes confusion and disputes during this festive season. This holiday refuse the devil to come between anyone of you and that the season should end well, with peace and love. The devil can enter anyone during your gathering and many problems may arise. Just like the devil entered Judas Iscariot, the devil can enter anyone.
