In today's world, many assume that a watchman is only someone who prays for eight or twelve hours a day—someone super spiritual, always interceding in the church. But the calling of a watchman extends beyond the prayer closet. You can be a watchman in your workplace, your community, and your sphere of influence. A watchman is anyone who stands in alignment with God's will, being His vessel in any environment He places them.
"I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence." (Isaiah 62:6, KJV)
Being a watchman does not necessarily mean standing on a literal wall or constantly looking out for evil spirits. It means yielding to God's process and allowing Him to use you wherever you are. A nurse, for example, may be ministering to someone experiencing trauma. Because they are spiritually aligned, God may begin speaking to them about the person's pain. Without ever saying, "Thus says the Lord," the way they care for the individual allows healing to take place.
The reason sexual immorality, corruption, and negativity thrive in some workplaces is that believers have not stood as watchmen. Have you ever been in a space where people filter their words just because you are there? That is the power of a watchman—your presence alone carries the light of God that convicts those around you.
We are called not just to be watchmen but also to be judges, executing the Lord’s righteous judgments. Everywhere we go, we must carry excellence, integrity, and divine wisdom. People should look at us and wonder, "What manner of man is this?" (Matthew 8:27, KJV). Our lives should reflect God’s excellence to the point that those in authority take notice.
David was hidden, tending sheep, unnoticed by even his own family. But when the time of his anointing came, no one could take his place. Likewise, some of you have been in places of obscurity—working faithfully for years without recognition. But your work will speak for you. God is calling you forth.
Joseph, too, was called before Pharaoh, but he had to first shave and clean himself. The process he endured refined him to the point that he no longer looked like the man who had once dreamt of leadership. The trials may have made you unrecognizable even to yourself, but you are being polished for your season of manifestation.
Seasons of isolation and preparation are not in vain. Moses was hidden for years in the wilderness before leading Israel. Jesus spent 30 years in obscurity before launching His ministry. There is a process of refining, pruning, and shaping before God reveals His vessels to the world.

For years, I felt hidden. I once told my parents I wanted to be a writer, and they laughed because I was not skilled in English. Yet, by God's grace, I became an Amazon bestseller for a week in my category. The process may have stripped away my confidence, but it never removed the gift inside me. Likewise, the process has refined you, but the greatness inside you remains intact.
A shift is happening. Those who have been hidden are about to be revealed. God is calling forth His watchmen — whether in government, media, business, or any other sphere. Some of you have been forgotten by society, buried under years of unrecognised labour, but God remembers you.
Just as Samuel would not sit until David arrived, heaven is waiting for you to step into your divine assignment.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for each person reading this today. I stand as a kingmaker, calling forth every hidden David. Lord, where society has forgotten them, You have not. Let the angels of God locate them and bring them to their place of purpose.
Lord, anoint them for their next season. Just as Sarah laughed at the promise but later saw its fulfillment, let their lives testify that You are a God who fulfills His word. By this time next year, may they be unrecognizable because of the glory You will reveal in them. May their work speak for them, their gifts make room for them, and their faithfulness be rewarded.
Hallelujah! You are a watchman. Step boldly into your calling. Whether in media, government, healthcare, or business, God has positioned you for such a time as this. Shine your light. Execute justice. Carry the presence of God wherever you go.
Be blessed, watchman!
