Mangombe out to appease fans

Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe has stressed that his side cannot afford to drop points when they take on Hwange today.

FOLLOWING their setback in the opening week of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe has stressed that his side cannot afford to drop points when they take on Hwange today.

DeMbare are back at Barbourfields, six days after the 2-1 defeat to Highlanders hoping to give their fans something to smile about.

Several Dynamos’ fans travelled to the City of Kings and Queens last Sunday to witness their side lose to Highlanders, where they got their solitary goal through Alexander Mandinyenya.

The gaffer says he is aware of the threat that Hwange pose.

“Hwange are always a tricky side. We have been working on how they play and how we are going to manoeuvre, especially in the attacking third so that we know how best we can penetrate them,” Mangombe said.

“They are not a bad side. As you know, they collected maximum points against Yadah. They have a good side and a bit of experience in that team. We are more than prepared for this game.

“We can’t afford to lose this game again. What we want is to maximise this game so that we give hope to our fans and our players as well and bring back the confidence to our boys.”

The Glamour Boys missed Tanaka Shandirwa in their last match, and he is expected to make a return to the team.

Last Sunday, the Dynamos defence of Donald Dzvinyai and Kevin Moyo was shaky, while goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa timid.

Shandirwa could be in the starting line-up for the Glamour Boys today.

Valentine Kadonzvo had a good start on the left wing and could have scored the first goal, but fizzled out and failed to take advantage of suspect Highlanders right back Marvelous Chigumira.

Dynamos also tried new foreigners Frederick Botchway and Stanley Uri-khob, but to no avail.

Last year, Dynamos played Hwange at BF and they prevailed 1-0 over the coal miners.

Chipangano coach Nation Dube says last year is history and he cannot measure his boys’ confidence from the win against Yadah in their first win.

“We just want to see what will happen tomorrow. We are already in Bulawayo to prepare for the match,” he said.

“I cannot measure my confidence with that of the other game that we played last week but I guess the morale is high and everyone is raring to go.”

Gift Mbweti was on target for Hwange against Yadah with the coal miners also boasting the presence of Shepard Gadzikwa, Canaan Nkomo and Pritchard Mpelele in their ranks.
