FC PLATINUM coach Norman Mapeza faces a selection headache in tomorrow’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Simba Bhora with a full squad and a clean bill of health at his disposal.
Simba Bhora will be pushing to wrest top spot from FC Platinum who will be playing at home while the platinum miners will fight to keep their place.
It is the the first time this season that Mapeza is facing such a selection conundrum with all his key players including captain and first choice goalkeeper Wallace Magalane available for selection.
The platinum miners appear to have finally hit the right gears, and are prettily poised at the summit of the standings with 31 points after 15 matches.
They are followed by Manica Diamonds who have 30 points on their tally. Simba Bhora have also been impressive, garnering 27 points so far.
The Shamva-based side are third on the PSL standings.
Mapeza has acknowledged that Simba have the strongest team in the league on paper. However, he is unfazed by the prospect of facing them.
“I am happy with the attitude of the boys. We have a full squad now. We are not worried about injuries. And as a coach, it is difficult, who you are going to drop because everyone is pushing. So far so good, I am happy,” he said.

“I do not think Simba’s position will put us under pressure. For us to be where we are, means we have been doing well. They will come with the same mentality.
“They are fighting to go on top and we are fighting to stay at the top. We are facing a quality side, their recruitment before the season shows that they mean business.
“The quality with Simba is good in the PSL. They look dangerous. It’s not easy to come up with such a squad. Some tend to struggle because of that level of quality, but they are doing well,” Mapeza said.
