Harare giants Dynamos' coach Genesis Mangombe has pleaded with the club to get him at least two strikers from the names that they have put forward as the technical team ahead of the second half of the league season.
The Glamour Boys struggled for goals in the first half of the season where they managed to win just five out of the 17 matches they played, including nine draws and three defeats and currently sit in sixth place with 24 points.
Mangombe’s side have only managed 16 goals and have a joint ninth worst scoring record in the division at this stage of the competition, thanks to the boardroom decision to award them three goals from their abandoned match against Chegutu Pirates.
Otherwise Dynamos have scored a measly 13 goals this season and have fired blanks in six of their matches so far.
“That is where the big issue for Dynamos is at the moment. We are currently looking for strikers to beef up the team.
“We have names that we have recommended and we are hoping that we will get at least one or two of the players from the list that we have put forward. If you look at the players we wanted in the previous window it goes on to prove that is where we are lacking,” Mangombe said on the sidelines of former DeMbare striker Norman Maroto’s burial last week.
“If you look at the matches we are playing, we are creating about four or five clear-cut chances but we are not clinical so I am sure we are going to fix that problem during this window.”
In the last transfer window, Dynamos thought they had fixed their goal-scoring woes once and for all after they claimed to have signed one of the top scorers from last season Obriel Chirinda only for the deal to be hijacked by Ngezi Platinum Stars.

After winning the Chibuku Cup last season, DeMbare are expected to take part in the Caf Confederations Cup, which is set to begin next month and they want to have sorted the goal-scoring problem.
Paying tribute to Maroto, who passed away after a short illness a little over a week ago, Mangombe described him as a big loss for Zimbabwean football.
It’s a big loss for Zimbabwe because I think we have a crisis of natural goal getters in this country. I would call him sometimes to speak to my strikers and he would come to talk to them. If the team fails to score goals he would be on my case demanding answers,” he said.
“He loved Dynamos so much that he didn’t want to hear that Dynamos had lost, so it’s a big loss for us again. I believe our upcoming youngsters will learn from their interaction with him and improve on their conversion rate.”
The Premier Soccer League announced last week that the midseason transfer window will be open from July 1 to July 31.
League matches are set to commence this week after a week’s break.
