With only three matches left before the Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) comes to an end, the two teams competing to gain promotion in the Premier Soccer League MWOS FC and Scottland seem to be heading for a photo finish.
Financial muscle is now at the centre stage as Scottland FC owner Pedzisai “Scott” Sakupwanya has dangled US$10 000 for each player if they clinch the Zifa NRSL championship.
MWOS continue to soldier on although the playing field seems to be tilted heavily against them.
Despite all these challenges MWOS FC chairman Cleyton Arimoso is not moved by the antics being made by their rivals.
“We still have a very big chance of getting promoted into the topflight league and the destiny is in our hands. We don’t need to be very vocal for the people to see, but I must tell you that our players are well-incentivised and we don’t have to go about telling the nation," Arimoso said.
“Scottland FC is our rival, therefore, we don’t follow or listen to whatever they are doing. Let them do their things and we will do ours.”
The MWOS boss has also maintained quiet diplomacy concerning the allegations of match fixing whereby two of his players were approached by two soccer legends (names withheld) and encouraged to throw away games.
“We value football and we have enough evidence to show that this and that really happened. When the correct time comes we will tell everything. Whether promoted or not we will sit down as a club, talk and come up with a clear resolution, we value football..

“If we launch any complaint today to the mother body it will affect the whole league. We are on quiet diplomacy at the moment because everyone wants us to blow the trumpet,” Arimoso told the Standardsport.
The Norton-based team MWOS FC coach Lloyd Mutasa still believes and is confident that his team will be promoted to the topflight league.
"The destiny is in our hands and our players know what we want is to win all the remaining games," Mutasa said.
"We were recently held to a draw by Black Mambas during the mid week, but this has not affected our players. We accept any result that comes our way and it was not a setback at all."
The two teams are in action with MWOS travelling to Mhangura while Scottland face Harare City at Mukushi Academy grounds.
