Norton-based premier league newcomers MWOS FC coach Lloyd Mutasa believes his team is ready to compete in the top flight football following his trip to Turkey for a two-week attachment as well as good preseason preparations.
The team itself is back from Victoria Falls where they had gone on a two - week training camp in preparation for their debut Premier Soccer League season.
Mutasa also went on a two-week attachment with Istanbul Basaksehir FK in the Turkish Super League which was aimed at equipping and enhancing his expertise in various critical aspects of the game that include focusing on match preparations, pre-match and post-match strategies and other important areas that are essential to modern football.
Here reflects on his trip to Europe before delving into the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.
"What l learnt and experienced in Turkey is applicable in Zimbabwe particularly on introducing some of the modern technique in football. You will be seeing a lot,” he told this publication.
"Our preseason training has been going on very well. It was not about getting results but most importantly was all about looking at our strengths and weaknesses of our team.
"We played three matches with division one clubs namely Zesa Hwange and lost 3 – 1 and drew our matches Golden Lions and Wangu Mazodze a Masvingo-based team, 0 – 0 and 2 – 2 respectively. We actually gave each and every player an opportunity to play as we looked to asses out team," Mutasa said.
MWOS FC also went into the market where they acquired three players to beef up their squad.

"As a coach, you will never be satisfied at all you ought to prepare each and every time. So far we have beefed up our squad and we have a number of them that include Clive Maponga formerly with Ngezi Platinum, Salif Cheya from Golden Eagles and Matthew Murasirana from Harare City," he said.
MWOS FC who went into the topflight after entering into a partnership with Southern Region champions ZPC Hwange, will be looking to retain their status in the league in their debut season.
"Every team is playing in the league not to win the title. For us firstly we need to survive relegation, but who knows we may end up giving surprises.
"The vision of the club especially from the top brass is to remain playing in the premier league and this does not put us under a lot of pressure ," Mutasa said.
The Norton side is yet to decide their home ground considering that Ngoni Stadium which was their home for last season is undergoing renovations.
"We have not been told about our homeground but personally l would like to believe Baobab Stadium [in Mhondoro-Ngezi] will be ideal for us especially coming from Norton and also Rufaro Stadium may do," MWOS FC coach said.
This is not the first time Mutasa has coached in PSL as he had dances with Kiglon Birds, FC Platinum, Wha Wha and Dynamos among others.
