STRIKER Washington Navaya scored his fourth goal in four matches for TelOne FC as the Gweru-based side edged a battling Caps United at Ascot Stadium yesterday.
Navaya scored on the 52nd minute, to power The Wifi Boys to their second win of the season at home. The Gweru-based side have now collected seven points in four matches, with two wins over Triangle United and Caps United.
They drew with Dynamos FC and lost to Herentals College FC in their opening match of the season. And TelOne coach Herbert Maruwa was pleased with how his newly assembled team have fared so far, particularly how the goal-scorer Navaya has improved this season.
"I'm pleased with the team. This is exactly how I want the team to shape up. We are moving in the right direction as a unit," he said.
"I am confident the good results will continue going into the next matches. As the coach I am happy, with how he [Washington Navaya] has improved this season.
"We need someone who has that quality and form to be scoring for every in every game. That matters to us. We will be a better team as the season goes on."

Caps assistant coach Tonderai Marume blamed his strikers for failing to bury multiple chances throughout the match.
"We created so many chances, but our strikers failed to come to the party and they got one chance which they scored and we were punished,"Marume said.
"That's not good but I hope we will improve in the upcoming matches. We have a lot of work to do as a team."
Caps United started the match on the front-foot, and could have broken through after 15 minutes of play. Defender Brian Kadamanja got their first chance of the match, but missed the target by inches with a powerful header from a cross delivered by Phineas Bamusi.
Juan Mutudza got their second chance after 30 minutes but his shot from close range was palmed away by goalkeeper Tapiwa Chilenga. TelOne went through the first half without creating any meaningful chance as the Caps United rearguard was solid. And the two sides remained deadlocked at half-time.
The Wifi boys turned on their screws in the second half, and they deservedly broke through after 52 minutes through Navaya. The lanky forward beat the Caps United offside trap before slotting the ball home past the diving goalie, Harmony Nare.
Caps tried hard in-search of an equalizer, with coach Llyod Chitembwe introducing Jayden Bakari and Shawn Mazinde to add more firepower. But the TelOne back-line, marshalled by Frank Makarati remained resolute.
Meanwhile, at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane, four-time PSL Champions FC Platinum were held to a goalless draw by MWOS.
