Awards nominations excites poet S’tha

Sithandazile Dube

BULAWAYO-BASED poet Sithandazile Dube is ecstatic and feels honoured to be nominated for the Matabeleland Awards in the Best Female Artist category and Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards for the Outstanding Female Artist Award.

Dube, one of the leading female poets in Bulawayo, told Standard Style that the nominations alone were the best thing to happen to her.

“This year I have been honoured to be nominated by Matabeleland Awards for the Best Female Artist Award and Bulawayo Arts Awards for the Outstanding Female Artist Award,” she said.

“This indeed is an honour. I'm excited and above the moon knowing that people out there realise the work we put in the creative industry and to be nominated alongside the region’s best female artiste is a reason to write home about.”

Dube, a perfect example of a multi-tasking artiste, a mother, a qualified teacher, poet, actress and  script writer, all rolled in one said she worked hard this year and had a lot of projects she was working on.

“The nominations on their own are the best thing to happen and scoping the awards would be an icing on the cake,” she said.

“This year I did a lot of work as a poet. I wrote and performed quite a number of poems for big brands like PPC and Old Mutual.

“I also did a commercial for Old Mutual. As a host I hosted a lot of corporate and non-corporate events in and outside the country.”

Dube recently hosted events for the Law Society of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, National Aids Council, Old Mutual, including private events.

She has also appeared in the following film productions Amanxeba — a TV series, Ekhoneni — TV series, The Disappointment — a short Film and Amacala — Part 2, 3 and 4,“she said.

Dube has also played video vixen in Smile — a song by Charleston Trust Primary School Choir. She also featured in Halala Lozikeyi by Nkwali and Wathint'umfazi — by various Artists for Social Change, featuring DeLukes.
