A Marimba-based children's home got a shot in the arm after a number of local corporates under the “Brands that Care” annual Christmas cheer initiative donated various groceries last Thursday.
Redemption Children's Home, which is situated in Marimba Park, Harare, is a family initiative which started years back with a view to make a difference in the lives of the less privileged..
Speaking to Standard Style, Redempter Gwasira from the home, thanked the corporates for their timely gesture and called on more such noble gestures from well-wishers.
“This children’s home is a family initiative that started after we decided to make this family house a children’s home for the less privileged and over the years we have continued to house many disadvantaged children and orphans,” Gwasira said.
“We are grateful to the various corporates that remembered us especially during this difficult era in our economy.”
Various corporates, among them ZimCN Radnormine, Realtor Ville Real Estate, Allusol Design and Fitting Expert, Kamili Investments, Preeminence Hardware, Esteem Communications, Sasha Foods, Alistar Food Industries, Musabvunda, Active Insight Irrigation, Bolivia Hire and Catering Services as well as Trend-Zone Defined Wear pulled resources together for the generous donations.
Kamili Investments’s Mandela Katsande said they were happy to reach out to the less privileged in the spirit of Christmas.
“We are a Christian organisation and we felt duty-bound to partner other corporates in this gesture,” Katsande said.
“The Lord loves a cheerful giver and we pledge to continue doing our best in service to others.”
Katsande's sentiments were echoed by Radnor Mine’s Collins Musarurwa who said beyond their area of operation in Mutoko, they remain open to community development and charity programmes across Zimbabwe.
“Much of our corporate social investment work is in Makaha, Mutoko where the mine is situated but when the call came we had to join the party,” Musarurwa said.
“This is a noble gesture aimed at bringing smiles to the less privileged hence our support and participation.”
The Brand that Care is a brainchild of Esteem Communications, a local brand development company.
Esteem Communications MD Takemore Mazuruse said they were happy to be joining forces for common good.
“This coming together of brands for common good started in December 2019 with some donations and merry-making at Bako reDonhodzo Old People’s Home and then moved to Chinyaradzo Children’s Home in 2020 and 2021respectively,” Mazuruse said.
