IN 2016, local jazz musician Faith Naphazi, popularly known as Faith Candy, hosted her 28th birthday bash on Valentine’s Day Eve at Dam View in Chitungwiza.
It was one such big bash that saw the then lady of the moment Lady Storm and a number of local dancehall artistes performing at the bash that had popular radio disc jockey DJ Squilla on the turn tables.
And for the past six years, she has celebrated her “special” day, moving from one joint to another; only last year she took her 33rd birthday celebrations to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa, boasting of breathtaking and endless beauty, something that Faith Candy fell in love with.
The beauty-focused entrepreneur adds another year tomorrow, but she will do the celebrations in style today, at Mashwede Village along High Glen Road in the capital.
“This year I am celebrating my birthday in Zimbabwe,” she said.

“I was born alone, I have no parents and I have no siblings.

“So it shows how special I am because it’s not easy growing up alone.
“I am having a birthday bash at Mashwede on February 12 [today].”
The former Miss Curvy queen said this is not enough as she has also lined up parties after the Mashwede gig.
“On February 18, we are having a private party with few close people at a location yet to be disclosed,” Faith Candy said.
“I want to have fun with my friends, business partners and family as I celebrate my special day, hence the decision to have local birthday bashes,” she said.
“Please note that these shows will be held under Covid-19 regulations.”
Faith Candy has carved a niche for herself on the entrepreneurship front, operating a skin care product and lingerie business.
