AFTER giving up on music for some time, Afro-fusion musician Pamzy, born Pamela Dzvinamurungu, has retraced her way to her passion — music.
Pamzy, a product of the talent search show Starbrite who is now working on a cruise ship as a beauty therapist, said she reconnected with music while on the ship.
Pamzy said her cruise Captain Giannie Mazzell offered her an opportunity to sing for guests on the cruise ship, which carries 294 passengers.
“That was God’s grace,” she told Standard Style.
“I was given an opportunity by the ship’s captain to perform a song, which he wrote in Spanish.
“That time the ship was travelling from Rio de Janeiro to Seville in Spain.
“I performed the captain’s song and it was so great, the guests enjoyed it and some couldn’t hold their tears due to emotions, it was a great experience I had not expected.
“The performance was later screened on the ship’s television.

“So when we got to Spain we had new guests on the ship, who watched my performance and requested I performed live for them.”
Pamzy added that she reconnected with her love for music, which she had abandoned for the cruise ship job.
“On Wednesday when the guests asked me to perform, the captain then introduced the song he wrote titled Only You and I performed it,” she said.
“For my closing performance I sang Whitney Houston’s cover I will always love you.
“This was a great experience, which has made me reconnect with what I love doing which is music. I had abandoned music in search of greener pastures, but it has found me back.”
Before she left Zimbabwe, Pamzy had released two singles Ndaneta and Nyarara, a song that speaks on how domestic violence and abuse are rampant in societies.
Pamzy was born and bred in Chitungwiza and in 2015 she took part in Starbrite and came out as first runner-up.
As part of her prize, she got a scholarship to attend music lessons at the Music Crossroads Academy for the whole of 2017.
Although she had studied music, Pamzy could not earn a living from it and began to lean on her farm-produce business.
However, by being a crew member of the Silver Wind Ship and being given a chance to explore her love for music, her hopes to make it as a musician have been awakened.
