ONE of the longest running urban culture festivals, Shoko Festival has announced its first batch of headline acts for this year's 13th edition.
This year's edition will run under the the theme 'The Take Back' from September 28 to 30.
Botswana artiste Jordan Moozy, rap star Bling4, Gemma Griffiths, Nasibo, Mycole Biller, Bagga and MJ Sings are some of the headline artistes that have been released as of now.
Other artistes that have been announced are Hwinza Menternah, DJ Tashman, Leon Mwana waJoze, DJ Rori, Amard, Afrikera Dance Trust, among others.
This year’s festival will revert to bringing a foreign act, so far they have announced Jordan Moozy from Botswana after hosting an all local festival last year
Festival director Farai “Comrade Fatso” Munroe said last year’s decision was deliberate.
“We did this on purpose, we have artistes around the region but our headline artistes are all locals,” he said on the sidelines of last year’s edition.”
"We decided not to bring in a foreign artiste as we wanted to celebrate the Zimbabwean artistes who held it down during Covid-19."

Fans should look forward to the the Peace in the hood hosted in Chitungwiza, the mash up night, poetry night, the Hub Unconference, and the Comedy night or roast.
Last year, the sold-out comedy roast featured former member of Parliament of Norton Temba Mliswa who was roasted by a panel made up of Vimbai Zimuto, Lucky Aaron, Carl Joshua Ncube, Prophet Madungwe, Ckhanyiso dat Guy and Kiky Badass.
Founded by Magamba Network in 2011, Shoko festival is amongst the longest running urban culture festivals. The event combines arts, new media and civic activism.
The festival creates a space that celebrates and promotes free expression and politically consious art.
