Mazowe ward 35 councillor Johnson Mudzingwa has urged parents not to sit on their laurels, but to make sure the development of the school is taken as a priority and not to solely rely on donor funding.
While addressing a gathering at the handover of an ablution facility at Henderson Primary School in Mazowe district, Mudzingwa encouraged parents to be involved in community development issues.
“We have got kids and they are mature, especially girls, they have moments where they would need sanitary issues and with this development, which you are bringing into Henderson Primary School, we really appreciate,” Mudzingwa said.
“This development shows that we have got dedicated staff, we have got dedicated parents, we have got a dedicated parent body which is deployed to try and ensure the development within the school.
“This generation which we are trying to assist today, these are the future leaders.
“We were once like them and it is our duty and role today to make sure they are supported and we deploy our resources to support the school.”
Mudzingwa expressed gratitude over the school head, staff and the school development committee for a job well done.
He thanked the Rotary Club for funding the construction of the ablution block.

“I want to thank the Rotary Club for this gesture,” Mudzingwa said.
“I hope you are also going to extend the gesture to the other schools within the ward.
“We have got three primary schools, so I would kindly ask you to extend your gesture to these other schools.”
John Hudson who was the guest of honour said: “After a thorough research and consideration of a better ablution facility, we started communicating on how best we can have the project started.”
“A lot of paperwork was needed to facilitate the grant application and it took quite some time before we could say we were to receive a positive response from the Rotary Club International.”
Hudson extended gratitude to the Harare Rotary Club members for sparing their time visiting Henderson Primary School and ensuring that all the required documents are in order before they were sent to him in the United Kingdom.
