Schoolchildren at Makebho primary school in Mutare, Manicaland province, have received a lifeline after a Mutare-based businessman donated building materials for the construction of two classroom blocks.
Liberty Gumende donated building materials worth US$50 000 as part of his company's corporate social responsibility initiative.
Local traditional leader Headman Munyoro expressed gratitude over the donation saying it would greatly benefit the community.
"My community is overjoyed that Top Striker [Gumende] has donated building materials to construct two classrooms at Makebho primary school,” Munyoro said.
“This is not only beneficial for our community but also for the entire Mutare South Constituency.
“We were facing challenges due to the increasing number of students at the school, but now we can accommodate more children thanks to this generous donation.”
He also commended the entire constituency for working together and assisting with labor and other building materials.
