Local rapper King 98, born Ngonidzashe Dondo, says sharing the stage with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platinumz at the Kadoma Music Festival was part of efforts to fulfill his late father's dream.
King 98 is the son of the late businessman Thompson Dondo, who was the chief executive officer of Impala Car Rentals.
Dondo succumbed to kidney failure in January 2021.
The late businessman facilitated King 98's collaborations with some of the continent's biggest musicians including Nigerian stars Davido and Zlatan Ibile as well as South African Nasty C.
In 2020, Dondo facilitated King 98's collaboration with Diamond Platinumz which saw the release of a single titled Kachiri.
The track became a hit in the music crazy Eastern Africa region so much that King 98 received invitations to perform in Tanzania.
Last weekend, King 98 performed the track Kachiri at the Kadoma Music Festival, which was one of the major highlights of the music fiesta.
“My father's dreams came true. Big shout out to Diamond Platnumz. God bless you,” King 98 posted on his Facebook the morning after the performance.

In a follow-up interview with Standard Style King 98 said he actually missed his father and would do everything possible to fulfill his dreams.
“It was really a nice and memorable moment to perform with Diamond Platnumz and honour my late father Dondo,” King 98 said.
“The performance gave me closure although l wished my father was on stage with me.
“My father wanted me to work with Diamond Platnumz that he even wanted to see us perform together here in Zimbabwe and everywhere in the world.
“Obviously, coping with the episodes of my father is very difficult but l have a vision that which my father started.
“I will go whatever mile it takes for that dream to come alive.”
The rapper said he was looking forward to producing lots of music and conquer the world.
