Communications expert Takemore Mazuruse has won platinum after he made it to the Top 10 of the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network Professional Excellence awards, representing the communications - advertising, marketing and public relations sector.
Mazururse boasts of close to two decades experience in the communications industry having worked with local and international development organisations as well as public and private companies.
“I am an accomplished media and communications professional with over close to two decades of experience, including significant roles within the international Red Cross movement, other leading development organisations and aid agencies, embassies, mining companies, banks, retail and manufacturing giants as well as start-ups and creatives,” Mazuruse said.
“Using my experience working with brands across sectors, I am proud to have championed successful communications campaigns for various organisations.
“I also work with a team of talented and committed creatives who make the work a lot easier and results based.
“This platinum accolade in honour of our communications industry exploits is thus encouraging and humbling at the same time a challenge for us to continue embodying the highest level of professionalism in our work.”
Mazuruse’s tenure with global organisations like the Red Cross showcased his ability to navigate complex communication challenges, enhance media visibility, and implement successful fundraising initiatives.
“I have a diverse background working with various organisation which helped in honing my skills in strategy development, internal and external communications, media relations, and project management,” he said.

“Working in different communications positions with different organisations made me a multitasker with a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability.
“I am adept at evolving and changing environments and I am currently investing in high level digital studies so that I remain in sync with obtaining trends in the communications sector.”
Mazuruse, who has worked with some of the big names in the local creative industry, is also good at talent management and curating quality events though he has somewhat relegated that attribute to the least of his priorities.
“Our work also requires that we engage influencers and local talents as a way to enhance our communications campaigns and I am proud to say I have worked with some of the big names in the local industry dating back to my communications role with the Red Cross where we roped in the influential sungura musician Alick Macheso under International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) endorsed ‘working with celebrities’ drive to amplify our humanitarian voice and enhance local fundraising,” he said.
“The same is true for various other successful campaigns we have implemented with private sector players.
“The goal is to remain at the top of my game so that whatever career challenges come my way I continue to deliver.”
Mazuruse said he was grateful for the support he continues to enjoy from his family including his wife and kids and attributed that ideal to his clarity of intent and unwavering commitment to excellence.
“I believe in the beauty of family and that ideal continues to inspire me in my line of work,” he said.
“I have a beautiful wife and kids who continue to be my pillar and support systems even when the going gets tough.
“My goal is to have a global impact with my communications industry acumen, hence the continued investment in research as well as ongoing further studies to enhance my skillset. Learning is a lifelong process and I am not stopping at anything.”
Mazuruse, who is an alumni and past Zimbabwe chapter national coordinator of the Barack Obama founded Young African Leaders Initiative, has received a number of accolades, including the Young Public Relations Practitioner of the Year from the Institute of Public Relations and Communications Zimbabwe, Communications, Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations Practitioner of the Year from Zimbabwe Business Awards as well as being listed in the 40 under
